Before Using

In deciding to using a medication, the chance of taking the drug must be weighed against the good it will do. This is a decision you will make. For valdecoxib, the following must be considered

Allergic reaction

Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual or allergy to valdecoxib, other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, aspirin or other salicylates. Also tell your health care professional if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives, or dyes.

Pregnancy care

Valdecoxib has not been studied in pregnant women. However, studies in pets have shown that valdecoxib causes birth defects and other problems. Valdecoxib may cause problems in the baby's heart and lungs and is not recommended late in pregnancy. Before taking this drug, make sure your family doctor knows if you are pregnant or if you may become pregnant.

Breast-feeding problem

It is not known whether valdecoxib passes into human breast milk. Although most medication pass into breast milk in small amounts, many of them may be using safely while breast-feeding. Mothers who are taking this drug and who wish to breast-feed must discuss this with their family doctor.

Use for Children

Studies on this drug have been done only in adult diseaseds and there is no special info comparing use of valdecoxib in child with use in other age groups.

Elderly care

This drug has been tested and has not been shown to cause various side effects or problems in elderly people than it does in adults people.

Drug interactions

Although certain medication must not be using together at all, in other cases two various medication may be using together even if an interaction might occur. In these cases, your family doctor may want to change the dose, or other precautions may be necessary. When you are taking valdecoxib, it is especially important that your family doctor and pharmacist know if you are taking any of the following:

Aspirin Use of valdecoxib with this drug may cause stomach upset or problems

Fluconazole - Diflucan
Ketoconazole - Nizoral
Lithium - Lithane Taking these medication may cause the amount of valdecoxib in your blood to be too high

Other Information for using

The presence of other medical problems may effect the use of valdecoxib. Make sure you tell your family doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially:

Alcohol abuse - or history of
Bleeding problems
Stomach ulcer or other stomach or intestinal problems
Poor general health
Tobacco use - or recent history of The risk of side effects may be increased

Anaphylaxis due to allergy to aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication
Asthma with inflammation in the nose - with or without polyps or with spasm in the breathing tubes causing by aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication Using valdecoxib with these medication may cause these problems to become much worse.

Anemia
Dehydration
Fluid retention - swelling of feet or lower legs
Heart disease
High blood pressure
Kidney disease
Liver disease Valdecoxib may make these conditions worse
