Before Using
In deciding to using a medication,
the chance of taking the drug must be weighed against the good it will
do. This is a decision you will make. For torsemide, the following
must be considered
Allergic reaction
Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual or
allergy to bumetanide, ethacrynic acid, furosemide, sulfonamides
- sulfa drugs, or thiazide diuretics - water pills. Always tell your health
care professional if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods,
preservatives, or dyes.
Pregnancy care
Studies have not been done in pregnant women. In
general, diuretics are not useful for normal swelling of feet and hands that
occurs during pregnancy. Diuretics must not be taken during pregnancy unless
recommended by your family doctor.
Breast-feeding problem
It is not known whether torsemide passes into breast
milk. Although most medication pass into breast milk in small amounts, many
of them may be using safely while breast-feeding. Mothers who are taking this
drug and who wish to breast-feed must discuss this with their family doctor.
Use for Children
Studies on this drug have been done only in adult
diseaseds and there is no special info comparing use of torsemide
in child with use in other age groups.
Elderly care
Many medication have not been studied specifically
in elderly people. Therefore, it may not be known whether they work exactly
the same way they do in adults people. Although there is no special info
comparing use of torsemide in the elderly with use in other age groups, this
drug is not expected to cause various side effects or problems in older
people than it does in adults people.
Drug interactions
Although certain medication must not be using

The presence of other medical
problems may effect the use of torsemide. Make sure you tell your family doctor if

Diabetes mellitus - sugar diabetes Torsemide may increase the
amount of sugar in the blood

Gout

Hearing problems Torsemide may make these conditions worse

Heart attack - recent Use of torsemide after a recent heart
attack may make this condition worse

Kidney disease - severe
-
Liver disease Higher blood levels of torsemide may occur, which
may increase the risk of side effects
