Before Using

In deciding to using a medication, the chance of taking the drug must be weighed against the good it will do. This is a decision you will make. For tiludronate, the following must be considered

Allergic reaction

Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual or allergy to tiludronate. Also tell your health care professional if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives, or dyes.

Pregnancy care

Studies have not been done in pregnant women. However, studies in rabbits given large doses of tiludronate have shown that this drug causes deformed bones in the fetus. In rats, tiludronate causing prolonged labor and, in some cases, death of the fetus or mother.

Breast-feeding problem

It is not known whether tiludronate passes into breast milk.

Use for Children

Studies on this drug have been done only in adult diseaseds and there is no special info comparing use of tiludronate in child with use in other age groups.

Elderly care

Tiludronate has been tested in elderly diseaseds and has not been found to cause various side effects or problems in elderly people than it does in adults people.

Drug interactions

Although certain medication must not be using together at all, in other cases two various medication may be using together even if an interaction might occur. In these cases, your family doctor may want to change the dose, or other precautions may be necessary. When you are taking tiludronate, it is especially important that your health care professional know if you are taking any of the following:

Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum
Aspirin or other salicylates or salicylate-containing medication
Mineral supplements containing calcium, iron, magnesium, or aluminum These medication may decrease the effects of tiludronate and must be taken at least 2 hours before or after taking tiludronate

Other Information for using

The presence of other medical problems may effect the use of tiludronate. Make sure you tell your family doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially:

Hypocalcemia - low calcium levels in the blood
Overactive parathyroid gland
Vitamin D deficiency Tiludronate may make these conditions worse

Kidney disease Effects may be increased because of slower removal of tiludronate from the body

Stomach or intestine problems, including trouble swallowing, inflammation of the esophagus, or ulcer Tiludronate may make these conditions worse
