Before Receiving This Vaccine
In deciding to receive this vaccine, the chance of receiving the vaccine
must be weighed against the good it will do. This is a decision you and your
family doctor will make. For tetanus toxoid, the following must be considered
Allergic reaction
Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual or
allergy to tetanus toxoid. Also tell your health care professional
if you are allergic to any other substances, such as preservatives - especially
thimerosal.
Pregnancy care
This vaccine has not been shown to cause birth defects
or other problems. Vaccination of a pregnant woman can prevent her
newborn baby from getting tetanus at birth.
Breast-feeding problem
Tetanus toxoid has not been reported to cause problems
in nursing babies.
Use for Children
Use is not recommended for infants up to 6 weeks
of age. For infants and children 6 weeks of age and older, tetanus toxoid
is not expected to cause various side effects or problems than it does in
adults.
Elderly care
This vaccine is not expected to cause various side
effects or problems in elderly people than it does in adults people. However,
the vaccine may be slightly less effective in older people than in younger
adults.
Drug interactions
Although certain medication must not be using
together at all, in other cases two various medication may be using together
even if an interaction might occur. In these cases, your family doctor may want to
change the dose, or other precautions may be necessary. Before you receive
tetanus toxoid, it is especially important that your health care professional
know if you are using any prescription or nonprescription - over-the-counter
"OTC " drug.
Other Information for using
The presence of other medical
problems may effect the use of tetanus toxoid. Make sure you tell your family doctor
if you have any other medical problems, especially:

A severe reaction or a fever greater than 103 °F - 39.4 °C
following a previous dose of tetanus toxoid May increase the risk
of side effects with future doses of tetanus toxoid; be sure your family doctor knows
about this before you receive the next dose of tetanus toxoid

Bronchitis, pneumonia, or other illness involving lungs or bronchial
tubes,

Severe illness with fever Possible side effects from tetanus
toxoid may be confusing with the symptoms of the condition
