Sulfadoxine - sul-fa-DOX-een, a sulfa drug and pyrimethamine - peer-i-METH-a-meen combination is using to treat malaria. This drug may also be using to prevent malaria in people who are living in, or will be traveling to, an area where there is a risk of getting malaria. Sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine combination may also be taken with other medication for malaria, or may be using for other problems as determined by your family doctor.
Since sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine combination may cause some serious side effects, it generally is using only to prevent or treat serious malaria infections in areas where it is known that other medication may not work.
