Spectinomycin - spek-ti-noe-MYE-sin is using to treat most types of gonorrhea. It is given by injection into a muscle. It is sometimes given with other medication for gonorrhea and related infections.
Spectinomycin may be using in diseaseds who are allergic to penicillins, cephalosporins, or probenecid - Benemid. This drug is also using to treat recent sexual partners of diseaseds who have gonorrhea. However, spectinomycin will not work for gonorrhea of the throat, syphilis, colds, flu, or other virus infections.
