Before Using
In deciding to using a medication,
the chance of taking the drug must be weighed against the good it will
do. This is a decision you will make. For rifampin, isoniazid,
and pyrazinamide combination, the following must be considered
Allergic reaction
Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual or
allergy to ethionamide - Trecator-SC, pyrazinamide, niacin
- Nicobid, nicotinic acid, rifampin - Rifadin, rifabutin -
Mycobutin, or isoniazid - INH, Nydrazid. Also tell your health care
professional if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives,
or dyes.
Pregnancy care
Pregnant women with tuberculosis - TB must be treated
with TB medication, including isoniazid, pyrazinamide and rifampin. Rifampin,
isoniazid and pyrazinamide combination has not been shown to cause birth
defects or other problems. However, rifampin can rarely cause bleeding
in newborn babies and mothers when taken during the last weeks of pregnancy.
Always studies in rats and mice have shown that rifampin given in high doses
causes birth defects, usually backbone problems - spina bifida and cleft palate.
Breast-feeding problem
Rifampin, isoniazid and pyrazinamide pass into
the breast milk. However, rifampin, isoniazid and pyrazinamide have not been
reported to cause problems in nursing babies.
Use for Children
Rifampin, isoniazid and pyrazinamide combination
may not be appropriate for use in child and adolescents up to 15 years
of age.
Elderly care
Liver problems are more likely to occur in diseaseds
over 50 years of age who are taking isoniazid-containing medication.
Drug interactions
Although certain medication must not be using
together at all, in other cases two various medication may be using together

oral contraceptives, this may increase the risk of pregnancy. These medication
may also increase the risk of liver damage if taken with rifampin, isoniazid,
and pyrazinamide combination
Other Information for using
The presence of other medical
problems may effect the use of rifampin, isoniazid and pyrazinamide combination.
Make sure you tell your family doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially:

Alcohol abuse - or history of

Liver disease There may be an increased risk of getting hepatitis
if you take this drug and drink alcohol daily

Convulsive disorders such as seizures or epilepsy Rifampin,
isoniazid and pyrazinamide combination may increase the frequency of convulsions
- seizures in some diseaseds

Gout - history of Rifampin, isoniazid and pyrazinamide combination
may worsen or cause a gout attack in diseaseds with a history of gout

Kidney disease - severe There may be an increased risk of
side effects in diseaseds with severe kidney disease
