Before Using

Allergic reaction

Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual or allergy to ethionamide - Trecator-SC, pyrazinamide, niacin - Nicobid, nicotinic acid, rifampin - Rifadin, rifabutin - Mycobutin, or isoniazid - INH, Nydrazid. Also tell your health care professional if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives, or dyes.

Pregnancy care

Pregnant women with tuberculosis - TB must be treated with TB medication, including isoniazid and rifampin. Rifampin and isoniazid combination has not been shown to cause birth defects or other problems in humans. However, rifampin rarely causing bleeding in newborn babies and mothers when it was taken during the last weeks of pregnancy. Always studies in rats and mice have shown that rifampin given in high doses causes birth defects, usually backbone problems - spina bifida and cleft palate.

Breast-feeding problem

Rifampin and isoniazid both pass into the breast milk. However, rifampin and isoniazid have not been reported to cause problems in nursing babies.

Use for Children

Rifampin and isoniazid combination is not recommended for use in child.

Elderly care
