Before Using
In deciding to using a medication,
the chance of taking the drug must be weighed against the good it will
do. This is a decision you will make. For pemoline, the following
must be considered
Allergic reaction
Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual or
allergy to pemoline. Also tell your health care professional if
you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives, or
dyes.
Pregnancy care
Pemoline has not been shown to cause birth defects
or other problems. However, studies in pets given large doses
of pemoline have shown that pemoline causes an increase in stillbirths and
decreased survival of the offspring after birth.
Breast-feeding problem
It is not known whether pemoline passes into breast
milk.
Use for Children
Slowed growth rate in child who received medication
like pemoline for a long period of time has been reported. Some family doctors recommend
drug-free periods during treat with pemoline to help prevent slowed
growth.Pemoline may make behavior worse in child with serious mental illness.
Drug interactions
Although certain medication must not be using
together at all, in other cases two various medication may be using together

irregular heartbeat or seizures

increase the risk of having seizures; your family doctor may change the dose of
your anticonvulsant drug

Monoamine oxidase - MAO inhibitor activity - isocarboxazid

Other Information for using
The presence of other medical
problems may effect the use of pemoline. Make sure you tell your family doctor if
you have any other medical problems, especially:

Drug abuse or dependence - or history of Dependence on pemoline
may develop

Gilles de la Tourette's syndrome or other tics

Liver disease

Mental illness - severe Pemoline may make the condition worse

Kidney disease Higher blood levels of pemoline may occur, increasing
the risk of side effects
