Paclitaxel - PAK-li-tax-elbelongs to the group of medication called antineoplastics. It is using to treat cancer of the ovaries, breast, certain types of lung cancer, and a cancer of the skin and mucous membranes more commonly found in diseaseds with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome - AIDS. It may also be using to treat other kinds of cancer, as determined by your family doctor.
Paclitaxel interferes with the growth of cancer cells, which are eventually destroyed. Since the growth of normal body cells may also be effected by paclitaxel, other effects will also occur. Some of these may be serious and must be reported to your family doctor. Other effects may not be serious but may cause concern. Some effects may not occur until months or years after the drug is using.
Before you begin treat with paclitaxel, you and your family doctor must talk about the good this drug will do as well as the chance of using it.
