Check with your family doctor immediately if you have dark-colored urine, a fever, muscle cramps or spasms, muscle pain or stiffness, or feel very tired or weak. Niacin extended-release and lovastatin combination may cause a serious, but rare, problem called rhabdomyolysis. It is important to call your family doctor right away if you have any of these symptoms.

The best for you that your family doctor check your progress at regular appointments. This will allow your family doctor to see if the drug is help you to lower your cholesterol and triglyceride - fat levels and that it does not cause unwanted side effects. At regular intervals, your family doctor will want to do routine blood tests.

For diabetic diseaseds : This drug may effect blood sugar levels. If you notice a change in the results of your blood or urine sugar tests or if you have any questions, check with your family doctor.

Do not stop taking niacin extended-release and lovastatin combination without first checking with your family doctor. When you stop taking this drug, your blood cholesterol levels may increase again.

Check with your family doctor immediately if you think that you may be pregnant. Niacin extended-release and lovastatin combination may cause birth defects or other problems in the baby if taken during pregnancy.
