Before Using
In deciding to using a medication,
the chance of taking the drug must be weighed against the good it will
do. This is a decision you will make. For molindone, the following
must be considered
Allergic reaction
Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual or
allergy to molindone, phenothiazines, thioxanthenes, haloperidol,
or loxapine. Also tell your health care professional if you are allergic to
any other substances, such as foods, preservatives, or dyes.
Pregnancy care
Molindone has not been shown to cause birth defects
or other problems. However, studies in mice have shown a slight
decrease in successful pregnancies.
Breast-feeding problem
It is not known if molindone passes into breast
milk.
Use for Children
Studies on this drug have been done only in adult
diseaseds and there is no special info comparing use of molindone
in child with use in other age groups.
Elderly care
Elderly diseaseds are usually more sensitive than
adults people to the effects of molindone. Constipation, dizziness or lightheadedness,
drowsiness, dryness of mouth, trembling of the hands and fingers and symptoms
of tardive dyskinesia - such as rapid, worm-like movements of the tongue or
any other uncontrolled movements of the mouth, tongue, or jaw andarms
and legs are especially likely to occur in elderly diseaseds.
Drug interactions
Although certain medication must not be using
together at all, in other cases 2 various medication may be using together
even if an interaction might occur. In these cases, your family doctor may want to
change the dose, or other precautions may be necessary. When you are taking
molindone, it is especially important that your health care professional know

may increase the risk and seriousness of some side effects

Central nervous system - CNS depressants - drug that causes drowsiness

Tricyclic antidepressants - drug for depression Taking
these medication with molindone may increase the CNS depressant effects

Lithium - Eskalith, Lithane The risk of serious side
effects may be increased

problems may effect the use of molindone. Make sure you tell your family doctor if
you have any other medical problems, especially:
