Before Using
In deciding
to use a drug, the chance of taking the drug must be weighed against
the good it will do. This is a decision you will make. For
moclobemide, the following must be considered
Allergic reaction
Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual
or allergy to moclobemide or monoamine oxidase inhibitors. Also
tell your family doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to any other substances,
such as foods, preservatives, or dyes.
Diet

Ask your family doctor about any changes you must make to your diet.

Do not drink excessive amounts of alcohol while you are taking this
drug.
Pregnancy care
Studies of moclobemide use in pregnant women have
not been done. In some animal studies, weight gain was decreased in pregnant
females or their offspring after high doses of moclobemide. Before taking
this drug, make sure your family doctor knows if you are pregnant or if you may
become pregnant.
Breast-feeding problem
Small quantities of moclobemide pass into the
breast milk. Moclobemide is not recommended during breast-feeding, because
it may cause unwanted effects in nursing babies.
Use for Children
Studies on moclobemide have been done only in adult
diseaseds and there is no special info comparing use of moclobemide
in child with use in other age groups.
Elderly care
Older adults are especially sensitive to the effects
of moclobemide. This may increase the risk of side effects during treat.
Dizziness or lightheadedness may be especially likely to occur in elderly
diseaseds, who are usually more sensitive than adults people to these effects.
Drug interactions
Although certain medication must not be using
together at all, in other cases two various medication may be using together

these medication together may increase the risk of serious side effects

Cimetidine - Tagamet May increase the effect of moclobemide;
moclobemide doses may need to be lowered by approximately 50% in diseaseds
using cimetidine

Monoamine oxidase - MAO inhibitor activity - isocarboxazid

moclobemide while you are taking or within 2 weeks of taking monoamine oxidase
- MAO inhibitors may cause very serious side effects, such as sudden high
body temperature, extremely high blood pressure and severe convulsions; at
least 14 days must be allowed between stopping treat with one drug
and starting treat with the other
Other Information for using
The presence of other medical
problems may effect the use of moclobemide. Make sure you tell your family doctor
if you have any other medical problems, especially:

Hypertension Moclobemide may make the problem worse

Liver disease Effects of moclobemide may be increased because
of slower removal of the drug from the body; your family doctor may need to change
your dose
