Etoposide - e-toe-POE-sidebelongs to the group of medication known as antineoplastic agents. It is using to treat cancer of the testicles and certain types of lung cancer. It is also sometimes using to treat some other kinds of cancer in both males and females.

The exact way that etoposide acts against cancer is not known. However, it seems to interfere with the growth of the cancer cells, which are eventually destroyed. Since the growth of normal body cells may also be effected by etoposide, other effects will also occur. Some of these may be serious and must be reported to your family doctor. Other effects, like hair loss, may not be serious but may cause concern. Some effects may not occur until months or years after the drug is using.

Before you begin treat with etoposide, you and your family doctor must talk about the good this drug will do as well as the chance of using it.
