Before Using
In deciding to using a medication,
the chance of taking the drug must be weighed against the good it will
do. This is a decision you will make. For eletriptan, the
following must be considered
Allergic reaction
Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual
or allergy to eletriptan. Also tell your family doctor and pharmacist if
you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives, or
dyes.
Pregnancy care
Eletriptan has not been studied in pregnant women.
However, studies in pets have shown that eletriptan causes birth defects
and other problems. Before taking this drug, make sure your family doctor knows
if you are pregnant or if you may become pregnant.
Breast-feeding problem
Eletriptan passes into human breast milk. Caution
must be using if you are breast feeding. If you are breast feeding, you must
discuss the chance and benefits of this drug with your family doctor.
Use for Children
Studies on this drug have been done only in
diseaseds 18 years of age or older and there is no special info comparing
use of eletriptan in child with use in other age groups.
Adolescents Studies on this drug have been done only on
a small number of adolescents - 11 to 17 years of age. However, eletriptan
is not recommended for use in diseaseds younger than 18 years of age.
Elderly care
Many medication have not been studied specifically
in elderly people. Therefore, it may not be known whether they work exactly
the same way they do in adults people. However, eletriptan has been shown
to remain in the body longer in elderly diseaseds. It has also been shown to
increase blood pressure.
Drug interactions
Although certain medication must not be using
together at all, in other cases two various medication may be using together
even if an interaction might occur. In these cases, your family doctor may want to
change the dose, or other precautions may be necessary. Tell your health care
professional if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription - over-the-counter
"OTC " drug. When you are taking eletriptan, it is especially important
that your family doctor and pharmacist know if you are taking any of the following:

CYP3A4 inhibitors - clarithromycin " Biaxin ", itraconazole "
Sporonox ", ketoconazole " Nizoral ", nefazodone " Serzone ", nelfinavir
" Viracept ", ritonavir " Norvir ", troleandomycin " Tao " Do
not use eletriptan within 72 hours of taking these medication.

5-hydroxytryptamine agonists - almotriptan " Axert ", frovatriptan
" Frova ", naratriptan " Amerge ", rizatriptan " Maxalt ", sumatriptan
" Imitrex ", zolmitriptan " Zomig "

Ergot-containing or ergot-type medication - bromocriptine " Parlodel ",
cabergoline " Dostinex ", dihydroergotamine " D.H.E. 45, Migranal ",
ergoloid mesylates " Hydergine ", ergonovine " Ergotrate ", ergotamine
" Bellergal, Cafergot, Wigraine ", methylergonovine " Methergine ",
methysergide " Sansert ", pergolide " Permax " Taking eletriptan
within 24 hours of taking these medication may cause serious heart problems.
Other Information for using
The presence of other medical
problems may effect the use of eletriptan. Make sure you tell your family doctor
if you have any other medical problems, especially:

Basilar migraine

Cerebrovascular syndrome, such as

Stroke

Transient ischemic attack - TIA

Coronary artery disease, such as

Angina - chest pain

Decreased blood flow to your heart

Heart attack, history of,

Other heart conditions

Hemiplegic migraine

High blood pressure, not treated

Liver problems, severe

Peripheral vascular disease, such as

Bowel disease

Raynaud's syndrome Eletriptan must not be using if you have
any of these conditions.

Cerebrovascular event Eletriptan must be using with caution
in diseaseds who have an increased risk of bleeding in the brain, stroke, or
transient ischemic attack - TIA.

Coronary artery disease, predisposition to Eletriptan and similar
medication may cause serious heart problems, especially if you have a predisposition
for heart problems.

High blood pressure, treated Eletriptan may cause high blood
pressure in diseaseds already being treated for high blood pressure.
-
Kidney problems Eletriptan may cause increased blood pressure
in diseaseds who have kidney problems.
-
Liver problems, mild or moderate This could cause higher blood
levels of eletriptan.
