Before Using
In deciding to using a medication, the chance of taking the drug must be
weighed against the good it will do. This is a decision you
will make. For drotrecogin alfa, the following must be considered
Allergic reaction
Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual
or allergy to drotrecogin alfa. Also tell your family doctor and pharmacist
if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives,
or dyes.
Pregnancy care
Studies on effects in pregnancy have not been done
in either humans or pets.
Breast-feeding problem
It is not known whether drotrecogin alfa passes
into human breast milk. Although most medication pass into breast milk in small
amounts, many of them may be using safely while breast-feeding. Mothers who
are taking this drug and who wish to breast-feed must discuss this with
their family doctor.
Use for Children
Studies on this drug have been done only in
adult diseaseds and there is no special info on the safety and effectiveness
of drotrecogin alfa in child.
Elderly care
This drug has been tested and has not been
shown to cause various side effects or problems in elderly people than it
does in adults people.
Drug interactions
Although certain medication must not be using together at all, in other cases
two various medication may be using together even if an interaction might
occur. In these cases, your family doctor may want to change the dose of the other
drug, or other precautions may be necessary. When you are taking drotrecogin

the effects of drotrecogin alfa and may increase the risk of bleeding.
Other Information for using
The presence of other medical problems may effect the use of drotrecogin
alfa. Make sure you tell your family doctor if you have any other medical problems,
especially:

Aneurysm - swelling in a blood vessel especially in the head

Blood disease or a history of unusual bleeding

Brain problems which may include bleeding, disease, injury or tumor

Injury to any part of the body

Liver disease

Stroke

Thrombocytopenia - a low platelet count in the blood The risk
of bleeding may be increased

In addition,
tell your family doctor if you have recently
had medical surgery or spinal anesthesia
. This may increase the risk
of serious bleeding when you are taking drotrecogin alfa.
