Before Using

In deciding to using a medication, the chance of taking the drug must be weighed against the good it will do. This is a decision you will make. For potassium-sparing diuretics, the following must be considered

Allergic reaction

Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual or allergy to amiloride, spironolactone, or triamterene. Also tell your health care professional if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives, or dyes.

Pregnancy care

Studies have not been done in pregnant women. However, this drug has not been shown to cause birth defects or other problems in pets.

In general, diuretics are not useful for normal swelling of feet and hands that occurs during pregnancy. Diuretics must not be taken during pregnancy unless recommended by your family doctor.

Breast-feeding problem

Although amiloride, spironolactone and triamterene may pass into breast milk, these medication have not been reported to cause problems in nursing babies.

Use for Children

This drug has been tested in child and, in effective doses, has not been shown to cause various side effects or problems in child than it does in adults.

Elderly care

Signs and symptoms of too much potassium are more likely to occur in the elderly, who are more sensitive than adults people to the effects of this drug.

Drug interactions
