Before Using This Medication
In deciding to using a medication, the chance of taking the drug must be
weighed against the good it will do. This is a decision you
will make. For deferoxamine, the following must be considered
Allergic reaction
Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual or
allergy to deferoxamine. Also tell your health care professional
if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives,
or dyes.
Pregnancy care
Deferoxamine has not been shown to cause birth defects
or other problems. However, in animal studies this drug causing
birth defects when given in doses just above the recommended human dose. In
general, deferoxamine is not recommended for women who may become pregnant
or for use during early pregnancy, unless the woman's life is in danger from
too much iron.
Breast-feeding problem
It is not known whether deferoxamine passes into
breast milk. Although most medication pass into breast milk in small amounts,
many of them may be using safely while breast-feeding. Mothers who are taking
this drug and who wish to breast-feed must discuss this with their family doctor.
Use for Children
Deferoxamine is not using for long-term treat
of children up to 3 years of age. Always younger diseaseds are more likely to
develop hearing and vision problems with the use of deferoxamine in high doses
for a long time.
Elderly care
The combination of deferoxamine and vitamin C must
be using with caution in older diseaseds, since this combination may be more
likely to cause heart problems in these diseaseds than in adults people.
Drug interactions
Although certain medication must not be using
