Before Using
In deciding to using a medication,
the chance of taking the drug must be weighed against the good it will
do. This is a decision you will make. For dapsone, the following
must be considered
Allergic reaction
Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual or
allergy to dapsone or sulfonamides. Also tell your health care professional
if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives,
or dyes.
Pregnancy care
Studies have not been done or pets.
However, reports on the use of dapsone have not shown that this
drug causes birth defects or other problems.
Breast-feeding problem
Dapsone passes into the breast milk. Dapsone may
cause blood problems in nursing babies with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase
- G6PD deficiency. Breast-feeding may need to be stopped because of the chance
to the baby.
Use for Children
Although there is no special info comparing
use of dapsone in child with use in other age groups, this drug is
not expected to cause various side effects or problems in child than
it does in adults.
Elderly care
Many medication have not been studied specifically
in elderly people. Therefore, it may not be known whether they work exactly
the same way they do in adults people or if they cause various side effects
or problems in elderly people. There is no special info comparing use
of dapsone in the elderly with use in other age groups.
Drug interactions

problems may effect the use of dapsone. Make sure you tell your family doctor if
you have any other medical problems, especially:

Anemia - severe

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase - G6PD deficiency

Methemoglobin reductase deficiency There is an increased risk
of severe blood disorders and a decrease in red blood cell survival
