Before Using
In deciding to using a medication,

This is a decision you will make. For ophthalmic brimonidine,
the following must be considered
Allergic reaction
Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual or
allergy to brimonidine. Also tell your health care professional
if you are allergic to any other substances, such as preservatives.
Pregnancy care
Brimonidine has not been studied in pregnant women.
Studies in pets have shown that brimonidine crosses the placenta, but very
high doses have not been shown to cause harmful effects in the fetus.
Breast-feeding problem
It is not known whether brimonidine passes into
human breast milk. However, it has been shown to pass into the milk of nursing
pets.
Use for Children
Studies on this drug have been done only in adult
diseaseds. There is no special info comparing use of brimonidine in
children with use in other age groups.
Elderly care
Many medication have not been studied specifically
in elderly people. Therefore, it may not be known whether they work exactly
the same way they do in adults people or if they cause various side effects
or problems in elderly people. There is no special info comparing use
of brimonidine in the elderly with use in other age groups.
Drug interactions
Although certain medication must not be using
together at all, in other cases two various medication may be using together

know if you are taking any of the following:

Monoamine oxidase - MAO inhibitor activity - isocarboxazid

selegiline " Eldepryl ", tranylcypromine " Parnate " Brimonidine
must not be taken while you are taking or within two weeks of taking monoamine
oxidase - MAO inhibitors
Other Information for using
The presence of other medical
problems may effect the use of brimonidine. Make sure you tell your family doctor
if you have any other medical problems, especially:

Heart or blood vessel disease

Low blood pressure Although very little ophthalmic brimonidine
is absorbed into the body, there is a possibility that it could effect blood
pressure

Kidney disease

Liver disease Higher blood levels of brimonidine may result

Mental depression Use of brimonidine may make this condition
worse
