Before Using
In deciding to using a medication,
the chance of taking aprepitant must be weighed against the good it will do.
This is a decision you will make. For aprepitant, the following
must be considered
Allergic reaction
Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual
or allergy to aprepitant. Also tell your family doctor and pharmacist if
you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives, or
dyes.
Pregnancy care
Aprepitant has not been studied in pregnant women.
However, aprepitant has not been shown to cause birth defects or other problems
in animal studies. Before taking this drug, make sure your family doctor knows
if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
Breast-feeding problem
It is not known whether aprepitant passes into
breast milk. However, aprepitant is not recommended during breast feeding
because it may cause unwanted effects in nursing babies.
Use for Children
Studies on this drug have been done only in
adult diseaseds and there is no special info comparing use of aprepitant
in child with use in other age groups.
Elderly care
This drug has been studied in the elderly and
has not been shown to cause various side effects or problems in elderly people
than it does in adults people. However, elderly people may be more sensitive
to the adverse effects of aprepitant which may require caution.
Drug interactions
Although certain medication must not be using
together at all, in other cases two various medication may be using together
even if an interaction might occur. In these cases, your family doctor may want to
change the dose, or other precautions may be necessary. Tell your health care
professional if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription - over-the-counter
"OTC " drug. When you are taking aprepitant, it is especially important

Terfenadine - Seldane These medication may increase the
risk of serious side effects and must not be taken with aprepitant.

Benzodiazepines, such as

Triazolam - Halcion These medication may increase the
risk of side effects when taken with aprepitant.

Dexamethasone - Decadron

Methylprednisolone - Medrol The dose of these medication
may need to be decreased if you take them with aprepitant.

Chemotherapy agents - drug for cancer, such as

Docetaxel - Taxotere

Etoposide - Vepesid

Ifosfamide - Ifex

Imatinib - Gleevec

Irinotecan - Camptosar

Paclitaxel - Taxol

Vinorelbine - Navelbine Careful monitoring and caution
is recommended when giving with aprepitant.

Oral contraceptives - birth control pills Aprepitant may decrease
the effectiveness of these medication; additional birth control measures may
be needed to decrease the risk of pregnancy.

Warfarin - Coumadin Anticoagulant effectiveness may be
decreased.
Other Information for using
The presence of other medical
problems may effect the use of aprepitant. Make sure you tell your family doctor
if you have any other medical problems, especially:

Severe liver problems Aprepitant has not been studied in diseaseds
with severe liver problems.
