Before Using
In deciding to using a medication,
the chance of taking the drug must be weighed against the good it will
do. This is a decision you will make. For adefovir, the following
must be considered
Allergic reaction
Tell your family doctor if you have any unusual
or allergy to adefovir. Also tell your family doctor and pharmacist if
you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives, or
dyes.
Pregnancy care
Adefovir has not been studied in pregnant women.
However, studies in pets have shown that adefovir may cause birth defects
or other problems. Before taking this drug, make sure your family doctor knows
if you are pregnant or if you may become pregnant.
Breast-feeding problem
It is not known whether adefovir passes into
breast milk. However, it must not be using by women who are breast-feeding
because it may cause unwanted effects in nursing babies.
Use for Children
Studies on adefovir have been done only in adult
diseaseds and there is no special info comparing the use of adefovir
in child with use in other age groups.
Elderly care
Many medication have not been studied specifically
in elderly people. Therefore, it may not be known whether they work exactly

Zidovudine - e.g. Retrovir Using these medication with adefovir
may cause you to have a higher risk of having problems with your liver or
developing lactic acidosis.
Other Information for using
The presence of other medical
problems may effect the use of adefovir. Make sure you tell your family doctor if
you have any other medical problems, especially:

Human immunodeficiency virus - HIV It is important to talk
to your family doctor about the HIV virus before starting this drug. Adefovir
can make this condition worse.

Kidney problems Adefovir can cause kidney problems and your
family doctor may want to change your dose.
